Ready, steady, go! Preparing for local elections in 2018

Ready, steady, go! Preparing for local elections in 2018

Hackney and Islington combined WEP branches.

WE need to get ready for local council elections in May 2018, and this interactive and informal workshop is designed to help us do just that.

What will you learn?

  • What it takes to plan and run a successful campaign
  • The role of the candidate
  • Creating a cohesive and committed canvassing and support team

Who is this session for?

Anyone who would like to:

  • Know more about standing as a candidate
  • Be involved in WE local election campaigns as a canvasser
  • Be a strategist or work as vital back office support

If you have experience to share from previous elections that would be great too. All welcome!

Who is running the session?

  • Melanie Howard and Chris Paouros, former GLA candidates and Islington and Hackney branch leads
  • Alison Marshall, GLA candidate with significant experience of local politics
  • Amy Killen, who masterminded last year’s Brockley by-election campaign
