Tunbridge Wells Canvassing - 17th April

Come and join us canvassing. Let's get our candidate, Liz Orr, elected as the Culverden Councillor in the May Tunbridge Wells Borough Council elections!

If you have canvassed with us before we look forward to seeing you again please RSVP below.

If it is your first time canvassing it can sound a bit scary but keep reading and hopefully we will dismiss any fears you might have as you will never be alone WE will be with you all the way. Canvassing is when you go door to door speaking to voters on their doorstep about the upcoming election.  Every one of us who has done it before loved it after about the first 3 doors!

What happens the first time you canvass?

The first time you canvass you will be given a briefing and paired with an experienced canvasser.

We will train you on how to canvass including:

  • Know what Liz is standing for and what is important to the local area and any issues
  • How to read a walk sheet
  • How to positively engage with voters
You won't be expected to speak to anyone on your first time out unless you want to!  Let the experienced canvasser do all the talking and you will observe and learn how to speak to people on the doorstep. Your group will be assigned a street to door knock, where you will hold the clipboard and tick off who you talk to while the experienced canvasser does all the talking.

Once you are comfortable door knocking you can begin to talk to people on the door step, so there's no pressure and it's really fun to get to know people in the neighbourhood and their concerns and issues.

All the canvassers then meet up afterwards for a drink to share how door knocking went for everyone. It is a lot of fun to share experiences afterwards and rewarding to hear how many doors we knocked on for the day!

Why is canvassing so important for local elections?

Statistically, speaking to people on the doorstep delivers more votes than any other method in elections.

What if I can only come for 1 hour?

No problem! WE are happy to have help for any period of time you are available. Contact us on [email protected].
