WE Barnet hosts: Domestic Abuse & The Family Courts

Domestic Abuse And The Treatment Of Mothers & Children Behind The Closed Doors Of The Family Court

Domestic Abuse And The Treatment Of Mothers & Children Behind The Closed Doors Of The Family Court

  • A woman in the UK is killed by a current or former partner every 4 days

  • 1.6 million women suffered a range of domestic abuse in 2019

  • The Home Office estimates the cost of domestic abuse at a staggering £66 billion annually

Insufficient awareness of the issue leads to many cases not being identified or reported. An institutional refusal to address the issue leads to many cases not being prosecuted effectively.
