WOMEN WHO WON

WOMEN WHO WON

We hope you have been having a great summer! We’ve mostly been having a break ourselves with some ideas and activism bubbling in the background.

The petition created by a Cheshire East working group for sanctions against badly-behaved councillors has almost reached 7,000 signatures. It is being supported by Jackie Weaver who knows a thing or two about being bullied and we’d like to thank everyone who has signed and shared to reach this stage. Could we please ask for more shares amongst your networks in order to reach 10,000? Listen to our video to hear why it matters for local democracy and #EqualRepresentation

And we are really excited to tell you that author Ros Ball will be joining us for our next branch meeting! Her previous book published in 2017 was ‘The Gender Agenda’ and she will be talking us through an interactive presentation about her latest book ‘WOMEN WHO WON’.

Ros is a former political journalist who cares deeply about women's political representation. She wants to publish this book, not only to give elected women the recognition they deserve, but to encourage more women and girls to stand in the future.

She describes her book in this wayWOMEN WHO WON is for everyone who wants to know how women have shaped our world. It's time to know the names of women from the past to the present who fought elections in a man’s world and WON.

WE'd love you to join us for this inspirational presentation!

Yes, I'd like to volunteer!

  • Congratulations to Congleton's Cllr Suzie Akers-Smith for recognition by Cycling UK as one of the country’s top inspirational women cyclists.
  • Write to your MP to stop the cut to Universal Credit - something that we know will disproportionately affect women. Use #KeepTheLifeline on social media.
  • Register to be notified of support services for women’s wellbeing run by Motherwell CIO within the community. They are active in some of Cheshire’s most deprived areas.
