Equality for Everyone - Women's Equality

Equality is better for Everyone!

Equality is better for Everyone!

Dear Friend

Our fight for equality is because we truly believe that equality is better for everyone.  That's why WE are proud to celebrate International Men's Day on Wednesday 17th November with contributions from male supporters of the Women's Equality Party and a White Ribbon Ambassador.

  • Yacob – who has worked in a number of roles in the public sector responsible for equality in many forms – especially language and policy
  • Richard – a leading White Ribbon Ambassador in Congleton, striving to eradicate male violence against women and girls (also a Pride campaigner and Trustee)
  • Jamie – an executive head hunter and father to a 2-year-old – who will talk about both professional and personal aspects

You don't have to be a member to join in. All welcome, and please invite the men in your life too. WE'd love to see you there!

Race Ally event

Sally, who attended online, said she "found the event really helpful in framing some of the reactions I'd been having to conversations around me, and a bit more confident in speaking out. Long way to go, but the first step can be the hardest!"  If you missed our race equality ally event, you can still sign up to hear the latest news and activities

COP26

WE party members were out protesting on Nov 6th in Glasgow to demand Climate Justice from COP26 - see more on our twitter feed!

PCCs

Most of you may know by now that WE are fielding a candidate for the North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner by-election (and if not, read more about it here...)  but what about closer to home? Our very own Kay Wesley met John Dwyer, PCC for Cheshire recently. Read about it on Kay’s latest Councillor Blog Post here: https://kay-wesley.com/   And make your voice heard in the PCC Autumn survey.

Ready for more? Here's an easy way to get involved - from the comfort of your armchair!

There are so many worthy campaigns to support that it can be hard to keep track, so here is a handy list we've created for Actions to Take. The list includes petitions and surveys for both local and national campaigns covering a range of social, health and environmental topics aligning with equality for women.

Because look at the difference you've already made!

WE are so proud that the petition to legislate to enable councillors to be disqualified suspended for poor conduct has now reached over 10,000 signatures!  This was the result of work between local activist Hannah Cotton, the WEP Cheshire East branch, with input from our very own Jackie Weaver and shows what can be done.  This means the government is required to respond, and WE will let you know what happens.
