Congleton International Women's Day - Women's Equality

Congleton International Women's Day

Congleton International Women's Day

Hello Friend

There are two opportunities in the next week to stop by and chat - as well as join in with some great events!

You can wish us a happy birthday too as the Women’s Equality Party reaches 7 years of campaigning for equality on 2nd March, and to celebrate one lucky visitor to our stall could be in with a chance to win a signed copy of On This Day She co-written by Dr. Ailsa Holland, Macclesfield poet, author and activist, it contains the histories of women who #BreakTheBias in many different ways.

Why everything is about politics

So many people feel like politics is not for them, but unfortunately it impacts so much of our life and our society. Decisions about services and spending ARE politics. Unless you are Greta Thunberg or Marcus Rashford it is difficult to make change. It is only when we work together that we can #BreakTheBias.

One of the things WE’ve been surprised about is that while WE know Equality is better for Everyone, some of the things Kay has brought up in Congleton Town Council have just never been discussed before but once they are, they find broad cross-party support and actions become set in motion to address the inequalities raised.

Tell us what you want your Councillors to do

You don’t have to stand as a Councillor yourself, but we can all play our part to support someone who will. It all starts with a chat - come and tell us what’s happening or not happening, what’s driving you nuts. Hear more about our work in Congleton and what you want your elected representatives to be doing to make the lives of all residents better.

And then on Tuesday 8th March WE’ll be at the unveiling of the bronze statue of Elizabeth Wolstenholme Elmy in Congleton town centre. Kay has been supporting Elizabeth's Group as a Trustee - it’s been quite the battle to finally get here so please come along and give everyone involved a cheer!

Thank you for continuing to support equality!
