Vaginal mesh is the biggest public health scandal since Thalidomide.
Vaginal mesh is the biggest public health scandal since Thalidomide. Manufacturers ‘aggressively hustled’ these medical devices onto the market and into women’s bodies, without any clinical trials. Since their introduction in 1998 thousands of women have come forward to report complications, including nerve damage, chronic pain, scarring and organ perforation. ~
Tragically, many of those women were disbelieved, and despite bans in New Zealand and the USA our Government has still failed to permanently ban them from the market.
We are demanding:
- An immediate, permanent ban on vaginal mesh in the UK
- Compensation for the thousands of women affected
- Better regulation to ensure this can never happen again
Healthcare, like so many other areas of society, is full of inequalities which hold women back.
Join our campaign to end this unnecessary suffering for good.
