The Edinburgh and Lothians Branch of the Women's Equality Party invite you to join us for our next 'Book Club' on Thursday 27th January 2022 at 19:30 via Zoom. The book that we will be studying is Pregnant Then Screwed by Joeli Brearley. 

Imagine suddenly being sacked from your job. After spending years building your career, it's all taken away in just one moment. Why? Because you told your boss you are pregnant.

This happened to Joeli Brearley. And she quickly realised she wasn't alone. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, 54,000 women a year were forced out of their job because they dared to procreate and three quarters of working mothers faced workplace discrimination. Since March 2020 we have seen a generational roll back in maternal employment that will take us decades to repair.
