This is our monthly Branch meeting, where we discuss local issues, campaign strategising and event planning.
Great night out for all at our ever popular Pub Quiz evening!
Many of you will know that for the first time ever we will be standing a Women's Equality Party candidate in the local election for Brighton & Hove City Council on 2 May. Our Branch leader, Jessie Macneil-Brown will be standing in Central Hove ward.
We need to raise funds to cover campaign costs including for leaflets, posters and publicity.
We will be asking for £5 per person for entry, payable on the door. Teams can be up to 6 people. If you are only one or two then do come along and we can join you with others to make teams!
We will also be running a raffle with many highly desirable prizes!
The Old Albion will have available their special quiz night kebab and drink offer (including vegan option) so no need to go hungry!
Please do come along and support your candidate. We may be a new Branch but we are confident we can make a mark for women's equality in Central Hove.
Our local election campaign has started and is steaming ahead!
Join up to help spread the word that Campbell Park and Old Woughton electors can vote for our Women’s Equality Party candidate, Jane Whild, on 2nd May.
Every Branch Meeting from now until Polling Day is an opportunity to gather together to discuss how the campaign has been going, to share experiences and tips, and to keep on planning. Come and join the campaign!!
The first Thursday of every month, it's WE Lewisham's super-informal Pub & Politics.
Come and meet other local members and supporters to chat about all things feminist, political and local.
Pop by for just a quick soft drink or stay for the evening. All welcome! We look forward to seeing you!
A unique opportunity to attend this ground-breaking conference - exploring the inequalities that women offenders face, the conference will take you on a journey through the Criminal Justice System through the eyes of a woman. As well as hearing first hand from women who have been through the Criminal Justice System, we have a fabulous line-up of guest speakers. These include: Professor Azrini Wahidin, a renowned academic and researcher on women in prison; Hannah Morowa of Manchester WomenMATTA; Harriet Johnson of Doughty Chambers; Scott Cowap, Chair of Women's Problem Solving Court; and Harini Iyengar, a leading barrister and WEP spokesperson for Equal Representation who grew up here in Manchester!
We have a small number of discounted tickets available to enable those with limited funds to attend the conference - if you would like to apply for one of these tickets please email us at: email@example.com
The venue has step-free and lift access and lunch will have vegetarian and vegan options. Please let us know if you have any particular access or dietary requirements.
Please get in touch if childcare would be a barrier to you attending the conference to see what assistance we can offer.
Come and join us at our Big Canvass to get Megan Senior elected to Sheffield Council in Ecclesall in May.
We will be knocking on doors in Ecclesall and talking to voters about why vote WEP is such a great way forward to create a city that works for everyone - a city where sexism is not tolerated, where women have equal representation and where sexual harassment is a thing of the past.
Canvassing is great fun - you will get training and we go out in teams. Wear comfortable footwear and dress for the weather.
Bring a shoulder bag to carry some leaflets and a long ruler/wooden spoon or spatula for snappy letter boxes (or occasionally dogs!)
