WEP Hackey October Meeting: Branch Elections

WEP Hackey October Meeting: Branch Elections

On Tuesday 01 October WE will be holding our annual branch leadership elections (this will be instead of our regular branch meeting). WE need you to help grow our voice and push for equality in our political system!

Thank you for all your support for the Women’s Equality Party in Hackney. We love your commitment and enthusiasm for our political goals, and value your time to make change happen.

Please RSVP at the end of this page if you plan to join.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE ELECTION

Nominees for each of the below positions will be voted on during the voting period (see below). To run the branch, we are required to have at least one branch leader, data manager, and treasurer. Co-leads are particularly encouraged for Branch Leader and Data Manager roles.

Branch Leader: Click here to view role profile >>

Main point of contact for central office, work closely with Comms Lead, Data Managers, Treasurer to enable smooth running of branch.

Data Manager and Deputy Data Manager: Click here to view role profile >>

Administrators of branch member database on NationBuilder, ‘point person’ for all branch members and supporters, data analysis for outreach and campaigning.

Communications Lead: Click here to view role profile >>

Manage social media (Facebook & Twitter) in line with central office guidance maintaining WE voice.

Treasurer: Click here to view role profile >>

Account keeping, final decision on spending of funds, compliance (Electoral Commission, central office), risk assessments.

WE encourage anyone to apply to run as co-leads for any of these roles. You don't need to have identified the other potential co-lead ahead of your nomination, though you are welcome to start these discussions if you have someone in mind.

Can I create my own role? Yes! These 4 roles are the minimum required to maintain a branch, but WE want more people on the leadership team. Additional roles you may want to create includes secretary, events lead, fundraising lead or anything you want to sink your teeth into. The more the merrier!

Do I need political experience? You don’t need to be experienced in running local political party branches (quite niche!), but you should have an appetite and a bit of free time for making gender equality a reality, and some of the skills needed for each role. As well as being an important cause, this is a great way to develop new skills and build your personal or professional CV.

What's in it for me? Apart from helping to make gender equality a reality, being part of the branch leadership team means you get to decide on what the branch does and how WE do it. You also have a closer link with Head Office and more regular updates on what is happening at the core of the Party. All descriptions and time commitments are guidelines only, these can change e.g. during election mode.

How do I nominate myself: Please let us know in a few words (max 200) why you joined the Women’s Equality Party and why you’d like the role via email by 26th September. All nominations will be shared with Hackney branch members ahead of this meeting. At the meeting we’ll ask nominees to say a few words before the voting takes place, so please be prepared to speak briefly.

How can I get more info? Let us know if you have any questions or fancy a chat about any of the roles by contacting us on the branch email.

How can I vote? Email voting will take place between 26 -30 September for any members unable to join the meeting in person, votes should be sent to the branch email. In person voting will take place at the branch meeting on 01 October 2019. If any posts don't have nominations on the night, we will invite members from the meeting to stand.

Don't forget, you need to be a Women's Equality Party member to stand or to vote, so if you're not yet, JOIN HERE!

We look forward to seeing on the night.
