WE are very pleased that Luminary Bakery will be hosting WEP Hackney for our September meeting!
At this meeting WE will start by briefly discussing last minute items for Conference and we'll spend a majority of the meeting in conversation with Alice, the founder of Luminary Bakery and women who have completed the Luminary training programme. The aim of the event is for women at Luminary Bakery to better understand what the Women's Equality Party does and for WEP to better understand the inequality women at Luminary have encountered in their lives.
About Luminary Bakery
Luminary grew out of Kahaila as an innovative response to a need we saw for women who have had a social and economic disadvantage. We are a social enterprise designed to offer opportunities for women to build a future for themselves. We provide a safe and professional environment where women can grow holistically – encouraging ambition, restoration and second chances. We use baking as a tool to take women on a journey to employability and entrepreneurship, equipping them with transferable skills for the working world. We offer courses, work experience and paid employment within our bakery, empowering women to build their career. By investing in and releasing them to realise their dreams, through training, employment and community, we aim to break the generational cycles of abuse, prostitution, criminal activity and poverty.
