Hackney and Islington Branch Elections

Thank you for all your support for the Women’s Equality Party in Hackney & Islington. We love your commitment and enthusiasm for our political goals, and value your time to make change happen.

To help grow our voice and push for equality in our political system, we are growing our volunteer branch team and need you! As well as being an important cause, this is a great way to develop new skills and build your personal or professional CV.

WE are looking for 12 volunteer members to help us run the new Hackney and Islington branches (6 roles in each).

Branch Coordinator:
Responsible for branch calendar of meetings & get-togethers – including meeting invites, notes and actions, and distribution to members and supporters.

Remember: you don’t need to be experienced in running local political party branches (quite niche!) but you should have an appetite and a bit of free time for making gender equality a reality, and some of the skills needed for each role. We’d love to hear from you!

All descriptions and time commitments are guidelines only, these can change e.g. during election mode. Please let us know if you’d like further clarification or fancy a chat about any of the roles, by contacting us on the branch email.

These are the minimum roles we need for each branch. If other ideas come up and you have other skills you’d like to share, we will certainly consider new posts in the meeting. The more the merrier!

How to nominate yourself
Please let us know in a few words (max 200) why you belong to the Women’s Equality Party, why you’d like the role, and which branch you would like to support, via email by 12th September. All nominations will be shared with Hackney & Islington branch members ahead of our next meeting. At the meeting we’ll ask nominees to say a few words before the voting takes place, so please be prepared to speak briefly.

Email voting will take place between 15-25th September for any members unable to join the meeting in person, votes should be sent to the branch email.

If any posts don't have nominations on the night, we will invite members from the meeting to stand.

You need to be a Women's Equality Party member to stand or to vote, so if you're not yet, JOIN HERE
