WE are hosting the next in our series of 'Culture Club', a feminist night out with books and films!
WE meet in a central Leeds location, in a wheelchair accessible venue, to discuss titles selected by YOU.
It's a great opportunity to meet other people who love books and film in an informal setting and
to have a good time over craft beers or whatever you fancy.
Our next book is Toni Morrison's Beloved. It's inspired by the life of Margaret Garner, an African American who escaped slavery in Kentucky in 1856 by crossing the Ohio River into Ohio, a free state. When captured, she killed her child rather than have her taken back into slavery.
We'll also be discussing the film On the Basis of Sex, starting Felicity Jones, in a watchable drama about the personal struggle against injustice and prejudice of real-life US supreme court justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The movie is available on DVD or Amazon Prime to stream.
WE look forward to welcoming you, whether or not you've had time to read the book or watch the film.
