Statement from the Women’s Equality Party on the London Bridge attack

Published 4 June 2017

The Women’s Equality Party wishes to send its deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones last night in the events at London Bridge, and hopes for a speedy recovery to those who have been injured.

“We are deeply shocked that once again our country has come under attack from those who seek to change our way of life, to curb our freedoms and to sow division and fear among us,” said Sophie Walker, leader of the Women’s Equality Party. “We stand together with people across the UK in condemning this senseless and appalling act of violence.”

“Once again, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the emergency services staff who have helped, and continue to help, the victims of this appalling attack. We are so grateful for everything they do.”

The party has suspended its national campaign until further notice.
