March to decriminalise abortion

March with us to decriminalise abortion

Today a woman in England was sentenced to over two years in prison for having an abortion.

A mother of three has been criminalised for obtaining vital healthcare in the middle of a pandemic and will now be ripped away from her family and imprisoned. She has already been put through hell with a criminal investigation and court proceedings, and has now been given a custodial sentence.

This is only possible because abortion remains in criminal law.

Abortions that do not comply with the exceptions set out in the 1967 Abortion Act are deemed illegal and can result in a sentence of up to life in prison on the back of laws that were enacted in 1861 - before women even had the right to vote.

Her case is a damning indictment of abortion law in England which criminalises women for simply seeking healthcare. Nothing about this conviction serves the public interest, or the interests of her and her children.

WE are taking action

On Saturday 17th June at 1.00pm WE will be marching with BPAS and the Fawcett Society from the Royal Courts of Justice to Westminster in support and solidarity, and to demand the decriminalisation of abortion.

Join us to stand up for the right to choose, for healthcare, for bodily autonomy, and for our freedom.

The criminalisation of abortion does nothing at all to protect children, all it does is put women at risk.

Abortion is healthcare and it must be free, safe and legal.

*Not able to join us on the day? You can still take action with us from where you are on Wednesday 14th June - find out more >>
