Fearless Women - Women's Equality

Fearless Women

Fearless Women

Join us as we hear from the inspiring Kiko Matthews, Leanne Spencer, and Antonia Bannasch; on their past experiences and upcoming extreme physical challenges.

In 2009, Kiko survived a rare and life-threatening condition. Now she is attempting to become the fastest female to row the Atlantic, solo and unsupported. She will not only be looking to add her name to the handful of 5 women who have successfully made the crossing solo, but will also be aiming to cross the ocean in a world record time of 45 days: 11 days less than the current record of 56 days! This challenge proves that anyone can attempt anything given the right attitude, belief and support. She wants to use her story to inspire women to challenge themselves. Whether a physical, social or mental challenge, recognising the journey and developments you make, is key to developing confidence and independence.

Leanne and Antonia (aka 'Bodyshot') believe that it’s vital to take yourself into your discomfort zone if you want to build resilience and confidence. In this talk, they’ll discuss some of the things they’ve done to push themselves in their discomfort zones and what they have planned for next year, including a white collar boxing match, a run up (and down) Snowdon, and why they’ve been rollerskiing around the local parks of South London recently. We hope this talk will inspire you try something new and enjoy all the physical and cognitive benefits that can bring.
