Thank you for coming to our unconference, convened by our 2020 London mayoral candidate Dr Sue Black.
Dr Black is a Tech evangelist, founder of #techmums, saviour of Bletchley Park and Professor of Computer Science.
The Women's Equality Party was set up to game the political system in the UK to speed up progress towards gender equality. One way we do this is by being political disruptors. Our membership is open to members of other parties. We seek alliances and work collaboratively and when we run in elections, we invite the other parties to steal our policies to neutralise us.
WE have invited you to explore how we can use technology to support Dr Black’s campaign, and to create the policies and technological solutions that we will promote and offer to other parties and groups.
ABOUT THE DAY
Party President Catherine Mayer and Dr Sue Black will introduce the day by giving an overview of the Women’s Equality Party, the political context, some of the big barriers to gender equality and how they intersect with technology, and the objectives for the unconference.
We will then split into break-out groups to tap your expertise and experience on how technology can help solve problems that damage everyone such as pay inequality, violence against women, unequal caregiving and lack of representation or might be deployed to raise women, to the benefit of all. We will reconvene after a networking lunch to develop innovative solutions. These could be technological solutions - such as a new app, plug-in or interface - or policy proposals. Come armed with your best ideas!
