Thank you for your interest in the Women’s Equality Party Basingstoke!
In the May 2024 local elections, Stacy Hart made history by being the FIRST EVER Women’s Equality Party Candidate to be elected to a Borough Council seat, beating the incumbent Conservative Party by nearly a thousand votes.
This win proves the people of Basingstoke want to do local politics differently. We’re tired of the same old parties relying on historically safe seats. We’re tired of hearing the same political rhetoric from the same faces. But together, WE have shown that we can make change happen in Basingstoke - if we all come together and fight for it.
We have momentum. And to keep it up, we need your support.
We’re holding online and in-person drop-ins for new supporters or anyone who’s interested!
ONLINE: Friday 17th May 2024 at 5:30pm on Zoom; sign up here for link.
IN-PERSON: Saturday 18th May at 3:30pm at the Wote Street Club, 2 Seal Rd, Basingstoke RG21 7NG.
We have ongoing campaigns around making sure our new hospital gets built, housebuilding and infrastructure spending, ending violence against women and girls, feminist-led climate action, school sports equality, local issues in Hatch Warren and Beggarwood and throughout Basingstoke! And, of course, we are following up on our amazing local election results all year round with the hope of fielding more candidates in future elections.
Here are THREE SMALL THINGS you can do to help:
- SIGN UP: Sign up below to branch emails and/or the WE For HWB newsletter for people living in Hatch Warren and Beggarwood.
- DONATE: Give a small one-off or regular donation here. Unlike other parties we don’t have big donors or unions to fall back on and everything we do is volunteer-led, so we need to raise funds to pay for campaign materials like leaflets. The more time we spend fundraising, the less time we can spend on campaigning, so every donation is vital in making an impact in Basingstoke.
- LEAFLET: Can you spend just half an hour four times a year to leaflet ONLY your own street? (We'll split them up if it's a big road!) If we could get one willing supporter in each road to leaflet just their own neighbours, we can get all our volunteers canvassing instead - and this means we can spend even more time connecting with the Basingstoke community and working on your issues.
And if you want to get really involved, do sign up for meetings when filling in the form below! You can see our branch meeting calendar with lists of upcoming events, as well as our archived campaign work on our Linktree page. There's information regularly posted on our Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter and Instagram pages, and you'll often find video updates on our YouTube channel.
There are plenty of jobs, big and small. Just sign up here or email us at [email protected] if you'd like to know more. Because equality is better for everyone!
