Want to discover how law discriminates against women? Why is there so much Misjustice?
Leeds Branch of the Women's Equality Party invite you to a discussion about the law in the next in our series of 'Culture Club' - our regular book and film night. We'll be hosting this on Thursday 4th June 2020 at 20:10 (after the 'Clap for Carers'). Given the current restrictions on meeting up this will be hosted online via Zoom.
In her book, Misjustice: How British Law Is Failing Women, Baroness Helena Kennedy, QC, distinguished lawyer and broadcaster, leads readers through the way that law discriminates against women. When at least two women a week (and rising) are killed by a spouse or partner, one women is raped every seven minutes and the police receive one phone call per minute about domestic violence, yet the courts just seem to stand by and not prosecute perpetrators, what must change at the heart of society to make it just for women?
You are welcome to join us, whether or not you have read the book! Use this link to join the Zoom Meeting. The meeting ID is: 930-0714-3063
We look forward to seeing you then.
