Join the Tunbridge Wells Post Election Debate

We are delighted to announce that Julia George, presenter and journalist on BBC South East and BBC Radio Kent will be chairing a post-election debate on Tuesday 4 July at 7.30pm at the Camden Centre, Market Square, Tunbridge Wells.

On the panel are:

Lesley Abdela MBE a British expert on women’s rights and representation and also founder of the all-Party 300 GROUP campaign to increase the number of women MPs and local councillors in the 1980s. Lesley has worked as an adviser in 40 different countries to governments and IGOs and is also a journalist, broadcaster, public speaker, and women's rights campaigner. 
 
Dr Anne Logan a Senior Lecturer in Social History at the University of Kent with a special interest in 19/20th century women’s history.  Anne authored her first book in 2008 on Feminism and Criminal Justice: A Historical Perspective.  Locally Anne led an AHRC funded collaborative (knowledge transfer) project in 2012 with Tunbridge Wells Museum and Art Gallery entitled Women in Tunbridge Wells: a Hidden History.
 
Celine Thomas is Chair of our Branch.  She has also practiced as a lawyer in central government for nine years, initially training in a city firm as an EU and regulatory lawyer. She qualified as a teacher of law and politics in her early career and taught briefly in further education before returning to legal practice. Celine volunteers as a support worker for a local charity supporting women affected by domestic violence and has also been involved with supporting local refugee groups. This year Celine became the first Women’s Equality Party candidate to stand in Tunbridge Wells for Kent County Council and in the General Election.
